At Behavioral Crossroads Recovery, our mission is to assist individuals who have a severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders with developing the skills and supports necessary to live, learn, or work in the community of their choice with the least amount of intervention from the mental health system. Crossroads Recovery is one of the leading New Jersey mental health centers offering outpatient services for addiction for adults.

Behavioral Crossroads’ Mental Health Partial Care Services are designed for adults who need more help than what is provided in outpatient therapy but who don’t require 24-hour hospitalization. Crossroads provides a therapeutic day treatment program to help individuals with psychiatric illnesses and related problems.

General Services

  • What services do you offer?
We provide outpatient mental health and substance use disorder treatment, including individual therapy, group therapy, psychiatric services, medication management, and structured outpatient programming.
  • Who do you serve?
We serve adults. Specific age ranges and program eligibility depend on the level of care and clinical assessment.
  • Do I need a referral to start treatment?
No referral is required. You may self-refer or be referred by a provider, family member, employer, or agency.
  • Is treatment confidential?
Yes. All services are confidential and protected under HIPAA and applicable federal and state laws, including additional protections for substance use treatment records.

Levels of Care

  • What levels of care do you offer?
Services may include outpatient (OP), intensive outpatient (IOP), group therapy, and medication-assisted or medication-supported treatment, depending on clinical need.
  • How do I know which level of care is right for me?
A licensed clinician will complete an assessment to determine the most appropriate level of care based on your needs, goals, and safety.
  • Do you offer both mental health and substance use treatment?
Yes. We provide integrated treatment for mental health, substance use disorders, or co-occurring conditions.

Appointments & Scheduling

  • How do I get started?
You can call, submit an online inquiry, or schedule a screening. An intake coordinator will guide you through the next steps.
  • How soon can I be seen?
Appointment availability varies, but we aim to schedule intakes as quickly as possible.
  • What are typical wait times for admission?
  • We typically schedule individuals within 24-48 hours unless a weekend or holiday conflicts. As an outpatient treatment provider, we need to validate insurance and collect relevant screening information to determine eligibility. This phone call usually takes up to 20 minutes, and appointments for outpatient care can result in a 24–48-hour window. For extended care housing linked to treatment, we may need additional time for transportation and placement. Medication and other relevant needs for the longer-term housing partnership require more time. This is typically 2-3 days, depending on the variables.
  • Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
Some programs offer extended hours. Availability depends on the service. Please contact us to learn more about current scheduling options.
  • What happens if I miss an appointment?
We ask that you notify us as soon as possible. Missed appointments may be subject to a cancellation policy, but we will work with you to reschedule and stay on track with your treatment.

Insurance & Payment

  • Do you accept insurance?
We accept many commercial insurance plans and public payers. Coverage varies by program and service.
  • What if I don’t have insurance?
Self-pay options may be available. Our team can discuss rates and potential options.
  • Will I have out-of-pocket costs?
Copays, deductibles, and coinsurance depend on your insurance plan. We will verify benefits and review costs with you.

Medication & Psychiatry

  • Do you prescribe medications?
Yes, psychiatric evaluation and medication management may be available when clinically appropriate.
  • Do you provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT)?
If clinically indicated, medication-supported treatment may be part of a comprehensive care plan.

Program Expectations

  • How long does treatment last?
Length of treatment varies based on individual progress, clinical need, and goals.
  • Will I have the same therapist throughout treatment?
We strive for continuity of care whenever possible; you will work with the same clinician or care team throughout your treatment to build a strong therapeutic relationship.
  • Are family members involved in treatment?
With your consent, family involvement may be incorporated when clinically appropriate.

Safety & Emergencies

  • What if I am in crisis or having thoughts of self-harm?
If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For urgent support, you may contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Your safety is our top priority.
  • Is this a residential or detox program?
No. Outpatient services do not provide overnight care or medical detox. Referrals can be made if a higher level of care is needed.

Logistics & Practical Questions

  • Do you offer telehealth?
Yes, certain services may be offered via secure telehealth platforms, depending on clinical appropriateness and licensing requirements.
